Competition Schedule- It is our goal to release our competition schedule as early as possible (August 2022 for the whole season). We await the release of all dates from competitions and conventions and then we are able to select and plan our season. As soon as we are able to put the plan in place we release the schedule, so you may coordinate your schedule around these competitions as early as possible.
We will save a space for your dancer in the appropriate intensives if they are accepted to team. 6/13-6/17 Ballet Intensive (Ballet Level 1+) 6/20-6/24 Mini Level Jazz/ Lyrical Intensive 6/22-6/24 Turns and Jumps Intensive (level 4 and up) 7/11-7/15 Mini Level Ballet Intensive 7/11-7/15 Ballet Variations Intensive (level 4 and up) 7/18-7/22 Ballet Variations Intensive (level 3-3/4 or by invite) 7/22-7/24 Tap Intensive 7/26 -7/30 Beginning/Level 1 Multi-Genre Intensive. 7/26-7/28 Acro Intensive (levels 3 and up). 8/1-8/5 Jazz and Contemporary Intensive (Levels 1+) 8/1-8/5 Mini Level Ballet Intensive
If your dancer is not able to attend the summer intensives requested for team members, due to a scheduled family vacation, we request team students make-up the equivalent number of hours missed from each intensive in summer classes or private lessons. If you are away dancing at an intensive during the time of TDC’s intensive, those intensives void each other, and makeup class time is not requested.
If you are able to commit to the requirements for a Team TDC we would love to hear from you and we will discuss your interest amongst the team coaches and your teachers!
Fees: Team Acceptance Admin Fee A fee of $150.00 will be processed with each team member’s acceptance to team TDC and is non-refundable. This fee will help to cover a very small portion of costs and team coaches’ travel/needs for all five competitions and conventions. Please note that all team coaches may not be able to attend all conventions and competitions. Just as the dancers do, we are a team of coaches as well and work side by side. There will always be an adequate number of coaches at each required competition and convention but
1 Convention per Year (approximately: $25.00 registration fee $280.00 class fee for all classes (Sat and Sunday)= $65.00-75.00 per competition piece entry fee
3 Competitions per Year (approximately): $25.00 registration fee $60.00-70.00 per competition piece entry fee
Choreography fee per group dance: $135.00-$200.00 per piece (approximately)
Team jacket (does not have to be replaced every year): $150.00
Team Costumes: $100.00-150.00 per piece. We attempt to keep the price as low as possible for the quality of costume necessary.
NON-REFUNDABLE TEAM COSTS: All competition fees, team fees, group choreography, costumes, solo choreo/small/group duet are nonrefundable (for any reason inclusive of medical leave, moving, and injury).
Competitions (nonrefundable): For competition, we are required to pay in full months ahead of time to reserve our space. Thank you for paying your competition fees on time as we have already paid for your child’s registration. We are not refunded from the competition companies for any reason.
Choreography (nonrefundable): For choreographers, they are under contract and paid per child for a group choreography and your child’s fee (or solo/duet/trio fee). Your choreography fees combine to meet their minimum (especially if they are flying in). This means not showing up to choreography or deciding not to participate on a team after your initial acceptance, even at the start of the year, still results in paying the choreographer for your child in whatever they have previously committed to do.
When your child accepts a space onto a team (if offered) and commitments to “extras” like a solo/duet/small group, ensure it is a sincere YES for the duration of the year.
If the listed team commitments are manageable for your family and your dancer we would love to hear from you!
AUDITIONS- FOR NEW SOLOISTS OR CURRENT SOLOISTS REQUESTING AN ADDITIONAL SOLO DIFFERENT FROM THE GENRE THEY ARE CURRENTLY COMPETING IN THE 2021-2022 SEASON WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE SAME TIME AS THEIR SCHEDULED AUDITION - SEE 5. BELOW).
All individuals interested in a duo/ trio/ small group will audition with their level as well- see below.
As directors with MANY years of experience in competition, we strongly recommend auditioning for an additional piece only after participating on Team for one year. This will allow the dancer to have a better understanding of the time and team commitment without additional rehearsal and performance pressures.
If you are considering auditioning for a solo, duo, trio, or small group please be sure you can say YES! to the following:
1. One 30-45 min additional rehearsal per week outside class for a jazz, contemporary, tap or hip-hop solo. Ballet solo private lessons one 1 hour private per week or 2 thirty min privates per week.
2. Choreography Fee: A. Solo $450-$900 on average depending on choreographer B. Duet $200-$400 per dancer depending on choreographer C. Trio $150-$400 per dancer depending on choreographer D. Small-Group prices vary depending on choreographer, usually around $200.00-400.00 E. Studio rental for choreography $20.00 per hour for 3-5 hours.
3. Costume Fee ranging from $125.00-$500.00 for costume, embellishment, and headpiece.
4. Commitment to regular rehearsal with the assigned team coach and possibly additional private lessons if needed for dancer or dancers to be ready to compete.
5. Commitment to attendance in all weekly classes.
6. Additional Convention and Competition Fees: (approximate) A. Solo $120.00-$155.00 per competition / convention B. Duet $65.00-$85.00 per competition / convention C. Trio $65.00-$85.00 per competition / convention D. Small-Group $65.00-$75.00 per competition/convention
If you are a current team soloist: We will evaluate, award, and make solo recommendations based upon your competition season Feb 2022-May 2022. You will not need to schedule an AUDITION TIME. The most honest audition we can hold for our current team members is an evaluation of the solo competition experience on stage.
For new solo consideration, we would like you to perform a 45-second piece for the directors to evaluate. This 45-second routine should be your current recital dance, part of a current team dance, or current solo/duo/trio. Extra rehearsals are not necessary for this audition. Please bring your music with you on an iPad, iPhone, tablet, or other devices. Dancers do not need to audition with a partner or group, even if their first choice is a duet/trio/ small group. Dancers will be evaluated and offered an additional piece that the directors feel compliments them best (solo, duo, trio, or group).
Please find all of the information you will need for hair, makeup, and so forth for your team competition pieces. Your solo coach will assign the rest of the details for your solos.
